What these terms cover
These terms apply to Parlance for Mac (the "app") and this website. The pl command-line tool comes under its own open-source license; see section 3. By using the app you agree to these terms. "We" means the Parlance developer.
The app license
- When you buy the app, you get a license to use it for your personal use on up to 2 Macs.
- You can deactivate a Mac in the app and then activate another one.
- The license includes free updates for 1.x versions.
- The license lets you use the app; it does not transfer ownership of it. The Parlance name, icon and mascot are not licensed to you.
The CLI
pl is free and licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later; the source is at github.com/zjlgdx/parlance. That license sets out your rights to use, change and share pl. The Parlance name, icon and mascot are not covered by the GPL; see TRADEMARK.md in the repository.
Purchase and payment
The app costs US$19 as a one-time purchase. Dodo Payments is the Merchant of Record: it processes payment, sales tax or VAT and invoices, and its terms also apply to your purchase. For refunds, see the Refund Policy.
Your API key and model provider
The app and the CLI use your own API key for Gemini, DeepSeek, OpenAI or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Requests go directly from your Mac to the provider you configured, under that provider's terms and pricing, and you pay the provider. You are responsible for keeping your key safe and for the costs it incurs.
Generated text
Translations, rewrites and explanations come from the model you configured and can be wrong or incomplete. Check them before you use, paste or send them. When the app pastes for you it never presses Return, so sending is always your call.
No warranty
The app, the CLI and this website are provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including that they will suit a particular purpose or work without errors or interruptions.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses from using or being unable to use the app, the CLI or this website, such as lost data, lost profits, or charges from your model provider. Our total liability for the app is limited to the amount you paid for your license. Nothing here excludes or limits liability that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, we update this page and the effective date above. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the new terms.
